Within the Army, AR 25-2 paragraph 2-1 k. states that the CIO/G-6 will:
k. Act as the certification and accreditation (C&A) designated approving authority (DAA) for ISs with the exceptions found in paragraph 5-8m.
Unlike the Army, in the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps, these positions are separate.
The IAO is not the DAA, but is responsible to the DAA.
