The Cotahuasi Canyon of Peru is the world's deepest canyon

The grand canyon is about 1737 meters deep - a little a mile. However the deepest canyon in the world is the Cotahuasi Canyon in south western Peru. The Cotahuasi Canyon was cut by the Rio Cotahuasi, a tributary of the Rio Ocona, and it is about 3354 meters deep. This is over twice the depth of the Grand Canyon.
