Most adults feel that what children learn should be monitored by them in order to protect them from harmful ideas images and things that they feel are culturally inappropriate the internet opens up avenues for children to short circuit the parents role. Often this can be disadvantageous, however it must be remembered that information is fertiliser to the intellect.

You must look out for Trolls, Spammers, Scammers, Hackers and Viruses.
It does matter if you talk to some body who you dont know, just dont say your personal information.
Another Answer:I think it's important to keep in mind that all of the threats that exist on the Internet mirror threats that exist in real life. Those scammers mentioned above, for instance? They're real people and the actual scam takes place in the real world; not just on the net.It's unfortunate that this world has such things in it. But, if one has to be exposed to such problems, it's nice to know there's 2,000 miles of copper between your child and the threat, as opposed to a face to face meeting.
Considering the huge amount of traffic on the Internet, the amount of danger or crime is amazingly low. With just a little education and frank talk with your kids, you can make the Internet a safe, enjoyable experience, and minimize the threats to, in my opinion, a level far less dangerous than your kids will meet in the non-virtual world.

∙ 13y agoThe internet could be dangerous for a child if that child did not know what he/she is doing. A child should always be supervised until they reach maturity, and even then.
Yes, internet could be dangerous for children, but it is also an excellent source of information and education. However, the freedom of the internet and the lack of monitoring can have some rather dangerous consequences, especially for schoolchildren. Teachers can play their part to limit the potential scope of this problem by teaching students how to use this double-edged sword, which is indispensable to survive and thrive in the 21st century.
