It is for me. It is for many people that I know. However, just like many other things, it depends on the person. Some people have what is known as an addictive personality. Meaning they become easily addicted to things that they are fond of. This could be smoking cigarettes, playing games on the computer, drinking alcohol or doing drugs.
Not all addictions are actually harmful. This is again a matter of opinion. I am addicted to the internet but I don't believe it is doing any harm to anyone or any thing. I don't let it consume me. It just takes priority over television and some extracurricular activities.
My son takes priority above anything and I don't have any addictions such as smoking or drinking that affect my health. Therefore, I don't believe it is a problem. It is, however, by definition, an addiction.
I think about the internet when I'm not online. I make it a point to get online when possible. I have made so many things online a part of my life (such as banking, prescription refills, etc.) that it has become necessary to be online to do the things that could be done in person but I prefer it be done online.
