The U.S. Marine Corps has a MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit) that is able to conduct the full range of combat operations. Consisting of an assault ship and two support vessels, a MEU carries an infantry battalion reinforced with tanks, artillery, AAV's, plus Marine Air including AV8B Harriers, Ospreys, and helicopters that flies off the flight deck of the assault ship. The Navy ships are all equipped with well decks LCACS, enabling the Marines to conduct forcible entry either by land or sea.
