They aren't considered endangered as of yet. They are considered a keystone species and several of these species are considered endangered. The kangaroo rat has decreased drastically over the past 50 years. The downfall in their population is mostly caused by human interaction. This is by the destruction of the known habitats of the Kangaroo rat.
