No it is not only 12 gauge guns have been recalled. The Recall is baseless Their is nothing wrong with any of these guns .These guns are based on an old H&R patten .The issue has to do with the bolt stop screw. This is the bolt on the left side of the rceiver. This is the screw you take out to remove the bolt. If this bolt were to fail or fall out .Their would be nothing to hold the bolt in the gun when cycling between shots . This is a problem with every gun of this type H&R 120 /121 /348 /349 Sears ranger 105 (H&R 120) or Sears model 10 .Simply make sure that this screw is in good shape present and tight and you have nothing to worry about even with 12 gauge guns . What Sears should have done was send customers new screws it s a no brainer instead they ruined thousands of perfectly good shotguns . I question Sears motives They used to be a good company .
It was made on 1/13/48. This is called an Roll Mark Date. I found it at http://www.histandard.info/models/private/Sears/SearsBolt.html There is a recall on this model. Get info at Sears.com or call 1-800-817-9165. It covers models 583.13 to 583.22.
your gun was made by High Standard in 1952 these are very good guns
If it was made before midnight, December 31, 1968, it didn't need one and probably doesn't have one. If it was made later, it should be easily found somewhere on the receiver.
