A novel is defined as fiction. It's made up, a work of the author's imagination.

Sometimes a novel can be partly based on a real incident or incorporate some actual events, but it is still the author's invention. If the author says this book is a novel, it is not a true story, meaning that is it not a factual account of things that really happened.

No, "The Kite Runner" is a work of fiction written by Khaled Hosseini. While the setting and some events in the book are inspired by real-life experiences, the story itself is not based on a true story.

no it is not, all this book is is a nonfiction book from Khaled Hosseini. a lot of this book is true, about the political events in Afghanistan from the past to present. But the part of amirs memories of amir, baba, ali, hassan, rahim khan, assef, and others is just made up. it also is a scholastic book to teach the reader of present day Afghanistan, the things people go through during their lifetime living in the Afghan world.

its similar but the movie leaves out a lot of stuff that happened in the kite runner book. for example Aseef wasn't blonde in the movie, and Hassan doesn't have a cleft lip
