Where is the word 'piss' used in the bible?

The word is used in the King James Version of The Bible, being part of their normal language at the time, much as we would say 'urinate' today ie - there wouldn't have been any muffled giggling from the pews when it was read out in church!

Here are the verses from the King James Version: 2 Ki 18:27 But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

Isa 36:12 But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

You can also find the word in this verse from the Douay-Rheims Version: 1 Ki 16:11 And when he was king, and sat upon his throne, he slew all the house of Baasa, and he left not one thereof to piss against a wall and all his kinsfolks and friends.

The sense and intent are the same. According to the dictionary "-eth" endings are an "archaic third person singular indicative sense of verbs" whatever that means! :-) The bottom line is that both "piss"and "pisseth" both mean the same thing. Other verses are:-

1Sa 25:22 So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.

1Sa 25:34 For in very deed, as the LORD God of Israel liveth, which hath kept me back from hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.

1Ki 14:10 Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all gone.

1Ki 21:21 Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,

2Ki 9:8 For the whole house of Ahab shall perish: and I will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel:

It is important to note that in all these verses the speaker is very angry, full of rage and fury, and vents it using the shortest and most degrading words possible to let everyone know without any doubt whatsoever exactly what he thinks of that person. When someone is angry they use short words and spit them out to quickly to make their point. Besides, although both the words mean the same thing, "pisseth" is easier to say and more demeaning than "urinateth"!

The King James Version, of course, uses the old English derivation of it and says:

"...if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light any that PISSETH against the wall." (I Sam.25:22 KJV)

"...surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that PISSETH against the wall." (I Sam.25:34 KJV)

"...I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jerusalem him that PISSETH against the wall..." (I Kings 14:10 KJV).

"...he left him not one that PISSETH against a wall, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends." (I Kings 16:11 KJV)

"...take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that PISSETH against the wall..." (I Kings 21:21 KJV).

"...the whole house of Ahab shall perish: and I will cut off from Ahab him that PISSETH against the wall..." (II Kings 9:8 KJV).

These all, of course, refer to male children, and the inspired text for this phrasing in each of these reads:

"...those who urinate against the wall...".

"shathan" (pronounced; shaw-than'): "...to make water, i.e. urinate..." (Strong's Definitions).

Of the last passage cited, the New Living Translation[NLT] says: "The entire family of Ahab must be wiped out - EVERY MALE, slave and free alike, in Israel."

Webster's Bible [WEB] says: "...I will cut off from Ahab THE MALES, and him that is shut up and left in Israel."

Young's Bible [YGB] says: "...I have cut off to Ahab THOSE SITTING ON THE WALL (???; huh, ???), and restrained, and left, in Israel."

So, of the few English translations cited... the King James Version stays closest to the wording of the original manuscripts in this regard.
