There is certainly a Finchampstead in Berkshire, I think from memory, it lays between Crowethorne and Eversly . From Crowethorne you would drive up Wellontonia Avenue a long straight stretch of road impressively lined both sides of the road with giant redwood trees, which might even have another name ( wellontonias ? ) Up the incline to the top, which is known as Finchampstead Ridges, here it levels off with far reaching views to the nearside, well worth a look if your in the area.
