Is there a computer program that tells you how to mix colors in proportion such as two parts of white plus 1 part of black plus 1 part of blue and show the resulting color?

This question is not answerable because there are so many ways t mix colours.

EG:

• Many different types brands of Automotive paint
• Many different types and brands of interior paint
• Photography
• Water colors
• Oil paints

And on and on.

If you reask specifying the medium you are working with or in I am sure there is a correct answer.

Yes it was a bit un-clear but here should cover it.

First are you taking about the hardware store paint mixers? Because they have their own formulas thousands of them, there are no standards that I am aware of. That is why you need to bring in a sample. They even will change the formula for an existing color! I know because they did it to our house paint.

So mix colors? Well you need to look up that.

I will give you a little information. Red blue and yellow are not primary colors! look at the color of your toners and ink. It is magenta, Cyan and yellow. Red blue and yellow has been used as that because you cannot make or find a pure magenta, Cyan in nature. So red and blue had to due. If you mix an equal about of blue and red you should get a pure purple. What you get is a mucky purple. Only magenta, Cyan and yellow you can mix and get pure colors.

But how much of each to mix to get the colors you want. A color wheel will get you started but you just have to experiment.

Oh the primary colors in light is not magenta, Cyan and yellow or red ,yellow and blue! It is RGB Red green blue. I you shine three equal intensity of those three colors on the wall and over lap them where they all meet will be a pure white! Lack of color is black all colors is white in light. To mix pigments you have to create a color that does not reflect any color or any light. That is black, you mix all colors, but more red and blue, until you get a black muck. Most black ink is a very dark blue.

Toner and ink is a artificially made pigments that are the pure colors magenta, cyan and yellow.

Paints for homes and art are both artificial and natural material. Cobalt blue for example made from cobalt or was. Now it used as a shade of blue, like navy blue. Personally I prefer natural, because when I paint I get it all over me and prefer not to have artificial dyes on me, not that cobalt on the skin is good either!
