I'm not a medical doctor just a wife and Mom. My husband and 9 year old son are both adhd but only my husband has both adhd and enuresis. Our nephew (husbands side) is 13 is adhd and also has enuresis. So I do believe that there is a link. don't forget not alot of people will discuss enuresis with you.. so there may be more..
I have one daughter with ADHD and one with ADD both have enuresis. Many parents I have spoken with have the same issue.
Yes. And a link between encopresis (pooping in the pants) and AD/HD.
The same brain areas which deal with behavioral monitoring, control and inhibition/disinhibition are also responsible for the problems with these functions. People with impulsive-type AD/HD have the most problems.
No-one could teach my son to use the tiolet appropriately until he was 6. The symptoms abated markedly once we started him on methylphenidate. Prior to this we had no end of problems with school teachers and incompetent paediatricians who diagnosed it as "poor parenting".
OTOH, I have ADD, and had no problems of this nature as a child other than severe constipation. I suppose I coudn't focus enough to produce, while my son couldn't focus enough to prevent. Same underlying mechanism, different ways of showing it.
