Answer

Are you sure it isn't the other way around? -- The pain causing the dream?

Answer

Yes. Study REM Sleep. Go on google and type in: what is REM?

This will take you through many links.

We all go through difficult sleep patterns. Usually when we are under stress we can have nightmares, or even the feeling of falling. If you really think of it, who has died from falling? No one, because your brain won't allow you hit the bottom! It is no different to dream of someone chasing you and waking up in a cold sweat (dripping wet) and out of breath. If you dream you have hurt yourself your brain and body organs (especially your adrenal gland) is actually activated as it would be during the day and thus, yes, you can be sore or have a bit of a pain for a few hours.

Also look up photos or videos of "sleep patterns." You will see from this research how much we actually change positions in our sleep. It's incredible.
