The best natural treatments for acid reflux are lifestyle modifications. Eating smaller, more frequent meals instead of a few large meals, sitting up for at least an hour after each meal (instead of immediately lying down in bed), and avoiding certain foods that can potentially aggravate acid reflux such as mint, spicy foods, alcohol, and stopping smoking are natural ways to improve acid reflux symptoms and should be tried before starting medications.

it is better if you take natural remedies such as an apple a day. i have had the same problem for over 3 years, the doctors always give me different medication but it doesn't help for long. I have started eating an apple a day for like 2 weeks now, i have noticed that my stomach has gone better, i can digest food properly and eat everything

The multi purpose Wedge Pillow is a two-piece pillow that lifts up and holds the upper torso, promoting a better breathing and digestion during sleep. In fact, this pillow is an excellent drug free alternative to alleviate nocturnal symptoms of heartburn, acid reflux disease (GERD), and hiatal hernias. The multi functional Wedge Pillow is a great aid to reduce sinus congestion during sleep, to eliminate snoring and sleep apnea symptoms.

The bed wedge pillow is a great reading pillow that you can also use for watching TV, for homework, or just for resting at ease. Our Wedge Pillow lifts you up to a 45-degree angle that promotes your own body to decrease swelling; meanwhile, it helps you stay in a correct position while sitting comfortably in bed. This is crucial for people who must be in an upright posture because of a medical procedure or condition.

The multi functional Wedge Pillow gets rid of the need of piling several pillows on top of each other to accomplish the desired effect of being propped up at the right angle. Each part of this two-piece pillow is covered in zippered pillowcases, giving a healthier, more comfortable night's sleep.

Answer:Yes. Loose weight! Accomplishable with a water fasting (=not eating, but drinking water). Acid reflux is often caused by excessive (belly) fat pressure, pushing the stomach, to bulge its valve, causing a hiatus hernia.

Caution: loosing (=burning) fat produces stomach acid (mild is citrate, reabsorbed is strong citric acid, but also eating NaCl salt produces HCl). Water can dilute that acid. Otherwise (eating) food (on time) or (time release) antacids are needed.

An infection (bacterial or mold) might be responsible for excess hunger drives,

if the fat's pressure is not responsible for hormone imbalance (pushing on the glands, causing chaos, making people do the opposite

of what they are suppose to, weightwise).

E.g. Candida Albicans is a white mold, & an opportunistic killer

that produces cancer tumors (which are also white when fresh);

but can be overcome with a simple alkaline baking soda 5% solution,

mixed with simple mono sugars such as molasses,

because the mold feeds on sugar, making the blood acidic, & keeping itself alkaline,

but it cannot tolerate much more alkalinity (extreme).

(Infections') waste products hinder (their own) growth.

Excessive baking soda, (much more than needed to neutralize acid) is harmful!

However, sugar & baking soda (solution) together, are not just (simply) baking soda;

it's a different chemistry. Small quantities with recovery times are beneficial, & recommended.

We digest acids. Alkaline diets produce weight loss because the (digestible) acids are neutralized (=gone).

Optimal urine pH is 7.35 .. 7.40.

Fasttracktofatloss.com offers an interesting program to loose fat.

Others said this about the question:

Yeah, so, natural methods to treat (not cure) acid reflux, more formally known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), include eating frequent small meals, sitting upright for at least an hour after each meal, and avoiding possible triggers such as mint, spicy foods, alcohol, or cigarettes.

I've never heard of this water fast mentioned below in an earlier answer, but I would strongly advise against it as it could have potential side effects for those with certain conditions such as hypoglycemia in diabetics, or just may lead to hyponatremia (too little sodium in the blood/blood is too dilute from just drinking water-this can be very dangerous). There is no credible scientifiv evidence to suggest that a water fast provides a meaningful or long-lasting benefit (or any benefit at all) for reflux patients.

The last point I have for natural ways to improve reflux symptoms: lose weight. Obesity can worsen reflux since it increases pressure in the abdomen and makes it easier for stomach acid to reflux back into the esophagus. Reflux is not something to be taken lightly and can have serious consequences if it isn't treated such as developing esophageal cancer over many years.

If you are lucky enough to read this you have found a way to naturally cure yourself of acid reflux. The secret is a WATER FAST. This is where you only allow the intake of water into your body. No food, no juice, no medication. JUST WATER. Do some research on a water fast. I had acid reflux for 4 years and tried EVERYTHING to naturally heal myself. A water fast was the only thing that worked. You may have to do more than once. I would suggest 10 days for your first water fast. It totally resets your entire body and heals every ailment you have. Try this and I promise you it will work. It is very hard to do, so be prepared to take some time off of work. A water fast can be dangerous if you do not research on how to practice one. MAKE SURE YOU RESEARCH A WATER FAST PRIOR TO STARTING ONE. There are plenty of sites online that go into great detail.

OK..This was later added by someone else, ME, as an improvement to the original message. Time to make this clear though I do not like to debunk others' remedies. The added information starts here: Animals eat and lie down. We all know that. Now why is it that we cannot do the same without acid reflux? Wheat also comes to mind. We might think it is spices, but a good glob of wheat is most likely the reason. Although we get B9 (folic acid) from folate and iron from wheat without having to forage like a primate, wheat remains the one food that we are not naturally designed to eat especially near bed time. Hope this helps PERIOD! Furthermore: Smoking does not contribute to acid reflux without a bad diet in the first place. I do not think primates smoked, not sure about early humans since I was not there, but I am pretty sure that they did not need circumcision from yeast infections due to wheat consumption. Today people can eat wheat and still fight off the yeast with good probiotics. I still say try to avoid wheat unless you like to ferment like a plant and then pay up for good Swedish probiotics. I know nothing about water fasts sorry..

How to Treat Acid Reflux?

Acid reflux occurs when the LES, or lower esophageal sphincter does not effectively keep stomach acid from migrating up into the chest and esophageal area. When this happens, irritating acid can cause heartburn, cough and a burning sensation in the throat. Acid reflux treatment can include the use of over the counter medications that block acid production, or medications that neutralize excess stomach acids. In addition, acid reflux treatment may be as simple as staying away from offending foods such as coffee, chocolate and spicy foods. Another effective acid reflux treatment includes elevated the head of the bed, because lying flat can cause stomach acid to back up into the throat. Elevated the head of the bed, either on blocks or a few pillows, can keep acid below the level of the esophagus, therefore, staving off symptoms. Other acid reflux treatments include drinking plenty of water because water dilutes stomach acid, rendering it less irritating, and refraining from drinking alcohol and smoking. Both of these practices have the ability to increase the production of stomach acid. Sometimes, it is necessary to see a health care provider when seeking acid reflux treatment because certain cases can be worse than others, and may require more treatment than over the counter, or home remedies can provide. The physician may prescribe medication and devise a diet plan specifically designed to reduce symptoms of acid reflux. In some cases, however, further medical evaluation may need to be done before an effective treatment plan can be developed. The patient may be sent for lab work, or may be referred to another doctor who specializes in the treatment of acid reflux treatment. Usually, conservative remedies or acid reflux are sufficient enough to reduce symptoms. Eating a healthy diet and limiting coffee can dramatically improve symptoms, as can losing weight. People who are overweight exert pressure on their diaphragms, which can worsen symptoms of acid reflux. Losing a few pounds is sometimes all that is needed in the treatment of acid reflux to significantly reduce symptoms.
