Is there a statute of limitations in Virginia for criminal misdemeanors?

[Edit]

In Virginia the statute of limitations for misdemeanors, with one notable exception, is one year. The notable exception is for petit larceny - defined in Virginia as any larceny under $200.00 - which has a statute of limitations of five years. This is codified in Va. Code Section 19.2-8 (1950, as amended).
