There is also a possibility that an idler bearing has failed but that noise is a bit different from a rubber on metal squealling noise. To be certain of the problem befor you start throwing parts at it is to remove the belt and check each pulley and idler pulley (on the tensioner) for excessive play and/or rough or lumpy feel when you rotate them by hand.
There is a serpentine belt tensioner but there is no adjustment. It's a spring loaded device that's designed to apply tension to the belt. If there is a squealing noise heard, it's a sign that the tensioner has lost tension and the belt is now slipping on pulleys. I recommend replacing both the belt and the tensioner. Tensioner's do not last the life of the vehicle.
NO! The squealing is most likely a dry bearing in one of the devices that the belt is operating. Maybe even the tensioner pulley itself.
u do not adjust belt tensioner if belt is loose, u need to replace belt as tensioner works automatically
Your Explorer has a serpentine belt tensioner which keeps the proper tension on the serpentine belt unless the tensioner has failed.
You don't, it has a spring loaded tensioner, If the serpentine belt is loose the tensioner has failed and needs to be replaced
The belt tensioner is self-adjusting.
Done automatically by belt tensioner
you dont, it has a spring loaded tensioner
There is no way to adjust the belt tensioner, if it's not keeping enough tension on the belt the complete tensioner itself will need replaced.
There is no adjustment on the spring / Tensioner. You either have the wrong belt are the tensioner itself is bad. Replace tensioner are belt.
should have spring loaded tensioner nonadjustable
Should be automatic through the spring loaded belt tensioner
You can't. it has an automatic self adjusting belt tensioner on it.
YOU DONT: YOU PROB NEED A NEW TENSIONER
