Is there a time limit for your credit card to be charged for example could a purchase you made a year ago appear on your statement now?

Answer

That would depend upon the terms of your contract with the CC and the place where the purchase was made. Perhaps it was an offer such as you see by furniture stores, etc. offering delayed payments. If you did indeed make the purchase, and receive good(s) it is a legitimate debt.
