Is there a way to safely use a clay pot that has been painted with toxic acrylic paint?

Shellac is a food safe product, you can use this to seal the pot. "BUT" (I wouldn't use the pot for any food, if you chip or scratch the pot the base-coat will be exposed) I would suggest using it for a decorative vessel, pine cones, flowers, river rocks, etc..
