What is the best way to get off Oxycontin at home any home remedys?

I went through Percocet withdrawels a few years ago, not as strong as Oxy's (So i've heard) but basically the same symptoms.

For me,. who didnt take them for actual pain, but just to get high, (Stupid, yes, I know this now...) I started smoking more Marijuana then usuall and started smoking more & more ciggarettes.

Withdrawels almost always go easier if your high on something, becuase then your "general" feelings towards things are changed, and you dont tend to think about doing Oxi's (For me Perk's) as much, or same for whatever your addicted to.

For me, I used Marijuana and Ciggarettes as a.... "crutch" to help the cravings go down, or at least to distract me from thinking about them. (Perk's)

It worked for me,
And my friend "Bob" who is a current Cocaine addict, says on the "off" days (Days without Cocaine) Marijuana doesnt make his cravings go away, but it does help, by distracting him from "Blow" thoughts.

I would be careful withdrawing at home. If you have been using oxy for a long period of time I would seek the assistance of a doctor. You could have horrible side effects from stopping the medication. If you insist on stopping at home please Titrate!! Lower your dose slowly! Over a period of weeks or even a few months (if your able). If you have just a few available take the dose you are use to taking, next dose take half for a while, then take half of that for a while and so forth. Stopping any medication suddenly can create an emergency situation.

Please consider speaking to a Doctor Who knows how to treat withdrawal! Please do not worry about being branded a drug addict. What you need to worry about is the here and now. I know many people who once used drugs and than later in life were injured, needed pain meds and were able to find a doctor to help them. Be well and take care.

I had Vicodin withdrawal. I stopped taking it and had horrible headaches. I find aspirin and caffeine can help but it's not going to help a physcological dependence very much. try to lower the dose over time.
