Is there any assistance for teen parents-to-be who want to live on their own?

In Washington state, a teen parent-to-be (a mother) will be completely taken care of if they go through DSHS. They will get food stamps, room and board, free medical care, and free child care.

There are agencies who would assist a couple (or teen parent).However, this does not mean you will be placed in an apartment with rent, groceries, utilities etc. paid for. Since you are not of legal age, your parents are still responsible for your welfare. (Regardless of the fact that you are a couple and are having a child.)When you apply for benefits, an investigation will be made into your circumstances. Why you are leaving home, what family resources you have, and a myriad of other issues. Unless you apply and are granted emacipation by the court. (You would have to prove you can support yourselves and your child and continue you education)If you are unable to live with your immediate family, for a good reason (like abuse). More than likely a Family Court judge will place you and your child in a group home.

To the first person who responded to this question: Gee, that's awfully nice of the taxpayers of the state of WA to do all that, isn't it? Maybe if the government wasn't so generous with the taxpayers money, the rate of teenage pregnancy in this country wouldn't be so outrageously high.

To the young lady who asked the question--I would think the answer of the second person who responded is more likely to be accurate. At least I sure as hell hope so.
