I'm not sure what you mean by io box, but generally 10/100 means the network devices can communicate with other network devices at either 10mbps or 100mbps. If both are capable of 100, then 100 is used. If one is only capable of 10mbps then 10 is used.
1000mbps or Gigabit Ethernet is 10x faster than 100mbps. If is also backward compatable like 100mbps devices, but will only run at full speed is you connect it to other Gigabit devices and use the correct wiring.
