Is there any healthy problem due to blood donation? |
[Edit] |
If the question is "are there any health risks [problems] to blood donation", then here's my answer. Firstly, donating blood is something most healthy people can and should do voluntarily. There is evidence that donating blood can actually DECREASE the risk of many common health conditions--even the #1 killer heart disease.
Blood donation is a community service, and saves lives.
The experience of blood donation can provoke anxiety. Having an intravenous needle in your arm for 15 minutes is mildly irritating and sometimes a little painful.
The staff at the donation center screens EVERYONE and won't let you donate if you are physically unfit.
Probably the most common adverse event that can occur from blood donation is fainting, or at least the feeling of lightheadedness when standing up. Proper rehydration with water-based fluids over the next 48 hours can prevent this.
Finally, every donation kit is disposable, so unless there is some unbelievable mistake of re-using a kit, the needle/tubing/bags are sterile. Thus, you cannot CATCH a disease simply from donating blood.
