You may go about naked in these towns, so long as you are not also doing something illegal (for example, no robbing, threatening or public sex-acts, but just simple nudity). Also you must avoid being obviously naked nearby public schools because just as anywhere, you can still be arrested IF somebody complains to the police. Just Google Brattleboro and Ashland combined with words like "nudity", "legal naked", etc. and you will find enough research material to keep you busy for weeks.
Get out of the U.S. for the most liberal nudity: Try Spain where you can be naked anywhere, but especially in Barcelona where it's more accepted. I have walked naked on the public streets, parks and beaches of Barcelona including downtown last year and most people supported me, and the police didn't care. Also you're very free to be nude in Cap D Agde, the French nudist city.
