No, you didn't get ripped off. Samsung make it clear what is included with their televisions. Although Samsung 3D televisions can work out to be expensive, they are also among the best models available. If you want cheaper 3D with cheap glasses, consider LG but remember that LG televisions operate at just 540 line resolution rather than 1080 for Samsung models.
To program my Samsung Bluray remote for my Sony TV I had to turn on the TV then hold down the "TV Power" button on the remote and enter the numbers 35 while still holding down the "TV Power" button. You can try 48 if 35 doesn't work.
Remote controls are designed to operate with specific devices. Normally, a television remote control will not have the buttons to operate a DVD player. However, some manufacturers have television remote controls with DVD controls built in and a player from the same manufacturer can be controlled by the same remote. In addition, there are several third party remote controls that can be programmed to operate a wide variety of devices allowing one control to operate several different pieces of equipment.
You can program your DISH remote to work on your TV and other electronic components but unless you have codes or instructions on how to a universal remote to the receiver, we don't have codes specifically to operate in that manner. I would contact the manufacturer of your remote.

The early years of television included the network known as the DuMont network. DuMont began operations in 1944 as station WABD in New York. Paramount Pictures provided the early funds for the station. The network, however, lacked a radio station which its rival networks already had. TV experts have stated that a radio network was essential for signing on TV affiliates. Complications with the FCC and complicated court rulings prevented DuMont from owning as many stations as its rival networks. Due to all this, DuMont ceased to operate in 1956.
No televisions are currently as good as the movie theater 3D systems because their resolution is limited to 1080 lines. Theater systems operate at higher resolutions. However, Samsung does operate at 1080 lines in 3D modem as do Sony and Panasonic. LG use a passive system that limits the resolution to just 540 lines to each eye. Although LG refer to their 3D system as "Cinema 3D", it is a long way from cinema quality.
3D glasses are now available from a number of third party suppliers from as little as $30 per pair. Make sure to confirm that the glasses will operate with a Samsung television before ordering.
