Is there any way to tell how much gas is in your gas tank if the gage is broken?

Answer:
If your fuel gauge is broken there are two ways you can estimate how much fuel is in the tank.
  1. Use a (flexible) dip stick to probe through the fueling port and see how deep the fuel is in the tank. If you know how the fuel depth relates to total quantity, you can estimate how much fuel there is.
  2. Record the mileage on your odometer when you fill your tank. If you know the gas mileage that you vehicle gets, you can at least estimate when it is time to refill so you can avoid running out of fuel, and you may be able to estimate how much is left at any given time.
