If your fuel gauge is broken there are two ways you can estimate how much fuel is in the tank.
It depends want it wrong. Is it the gage or the float. The gage is easy you just take apart the dash and pop in the new one! The float couldn't tell ya that's in the gas tank and I'm not going to touch that!

You can purchase the KIT which usually has a small gage and a special hose that will ONLY fit on the LOW side pressure fitting and the instructions of which tell you how to read the gage in order to determine how MUCH FREON to add to the system.

Only an x-ray can tell for sure if a bone is broken.
Moisture testers are cost effective if used properly. They can tell you exactly how much moisture your skin contains and let's you gage what areas need more.
If the beads are not broken they are good. I dumped the resin into a big tub and clean the silt out. Then I poured the resin back in the tank and reused them. Without water the tank is 2/3 to 3/4 full of beads.
