Personally, I think any art is important to life! Art is a way to let out something unique and personal about yourself.Weather it's traditional, or modern, art should be a staple in anyone's life.
Aboriginal art is an example of traditional art in Canada. Art from both the French Colonial Period and English Colonial Period can also be considered traditional art.

All types of Art are important. Art tells people about a cultural past, about the moments that mattered the most in a persons life, it gives insight and general understanding of the past.
Traditional Art- known as classical art, and it follows the preset definition of patterns and and traditional customs of art. Art that is part of culture, skills and knowledge of group of people, it is never modified and remained in its original form. A focus on preserving classic art forms. Modern Art- considered non-traditonal art, it was created by merging the basic elements of traditional art, and the new form, modern. Modern art is vast and keeps changing with new innovations and ideas. so basically traditional art is about preserving classic ideas, and modern is about new and innovative ideas
Geishas practice traditional art forms such as traditional song and dance and tea ceremony. all traditional art forms are important in japan such as sword making and kimono making etc. Unfortunately less and less people are willing to take up these art forms and the life of a geisha is one of them: they're dying out.

Arts bring important experiences in life. If you artfully talented then great show the world. If not that's OK. There are different experences in life to. So when you learn art in school, it's for a good reason.
I feel that is also has something to do with imagination, Art is the bringing of that imagination out and reflecting it in a piece. In my view, imagination is indeed an important life skill or at least the beginning of it, the ability to bring that imagination to life in a piece of art develops that skill.
