Is water polo hard?

[Edit]
That depends. ESPN.com rates it as being harder than surfing and field hockey but easier than soccer and baseball.

With an average level of fitness and regular practice you could pick up the basics within a week or two and if you join a club you could be a good player within a few months.

You need to be a strong swimmer with good reactions and have strong arms to pass and shoot. At the top levels of competition, players tend to be taller than 6ft, well built and with big hands. If you are not a very sporty or fit person then you can still take part, as there are clubs catering for all levels of players, from total beginners to professionals as well as "Mini polo" for younger children.
