Other whale such as Sperm whales are not allowed to be hunted per international treaties. Please note not all countries have signed or acknowledge these treaties, and thus continue to hunt protected whales. Now as for the person doing the harpooning, Inuits of the Arctic, still have the right to hunt whales. The hunting of the whales is a tradition that has been long passed down from father to son and is thought of as something that helps to define them as a race. True that they do not hunt whales any longer since they do not have to rely upon it as a food source. The last occurrence of an Inuit whale hunt launched protests all over the world, since they did not need it as food, but rather were only doing it to relive the old days.

∙ 11y agoNo it's not, BUT IT SHOULD BE! Those animals are doing nothing wrong. They are just doing what they have been for centuries and people are KILLING them!! They are harmless little (well you get what I mean) creatures on God's good earth, but the people don't stop to think that they are so close to extinction! When they are gone they are not coming back! GET WITH IT PEOPLE!! They will all be dead soon.
