For boys before and during puberty:

• Before puberty, between 2 and 4 inches erect (6 - 10 cm).
• After your puberty growth spurt, maybe 4 - 5 inches (10 - 13 cm).
• It will keep growing through puberty till you are 18 or 19 years old.

For most males over 20:

• The average penis, when erect, is between 5.5 and 6.5 inches (14 to 17 cm).
• Average means 'somewhere in the middle', so there are people longer and shorter than that. The largest is probably around 10 inches (26 cm), and there are people with small erect penises of just 1 or 2 inches (3 or 4 cm).
• Boys before puberty have erect penises of 3 or 4 inches (8 to 10 cm), sometimes smaller. When they get their 'growth spurt' in puberty their penises will grow till they are 18 or 19 years old.
• The penis is generally in proportion to your height, so taller people (and races) will tend to have slightly larger penises than shorter people (and races).
• Penises come in all sizes: thick, thin, long, short, straight, bent, circumcised and uncircumcised.
• Circumcised means all the loose skin around the penis head has been cut off, sometimes for religious or cultural reasons. Uncircumcised is when the skin is not cut off.
  
• People worry about whether their penis is big enough. This is natural enough, but none of these things make much difference. If you are skilful and clever in your lovemaking that will be much more important that having a big penis.
• The size doesn't matter. It's what you do with it that counts!

The average penis length for a male is between 5.1 and 5.9 inches. Your penis can start growing at puberty, earliest 10, and stops growing naturally between 18 and 21.

Many different surveys have given different answers, depending on whether the man measured it himself (maybe exaggerated a little?), or if the doctor did it. But 6 inches is about the average length for an erect penis.
