I looked in the owners manual and it did not have the correct information.

Try this..At the driver's seat open your car door all the way then look at the dashboard end. Pry off the plastic cover...the diagram should also be at the back of the cover.

I too have an owners manual for my 2001 Passat and it shows an access door on the drivers side end of dashboard and there is no access door there! I will try to pry the end off as suggested. We come to this site for answers, not lectures.
