I have a 2000 Taurus 3.0 L OHV engine. The low side port is located near the firewall at the back of the engine compartment near the right strut tower. It has a black plastic cover similar to a tire valve. Do not connect to the high pressure side which on my vehicle is located towards the front of the right side near the radiator. You will need R-134a and a connector kit. If you have leaks they should be corrected before recharging. -----
I just added some refrigerant to my 1995 Taurus GL. The low-side port is at the very back (closest to the cabin) of the engine compartment near the middle but closer to the passenger side. Its under a black plastic shield that has the anti-lock and EEC test box pinned to it. You can unscrew the shield to make your life easier. Theres a black cap (about the diameter of a dime) on my valve and theres a dirty gold label that says "No CFC" and "R134a" on the pipe it connects to. At first, I got a little worried when the pressure gauge was moving up to 50 psi and back down, but this is normal. The compressor cycles on and off frequently if the pressure is too low for it (you can hear it click). As I added coolant, the cycles became longer and when I got to about 25 psi, the compressor stayed on, keeping the pressure at the low end. After I was all done, I turned the car off and heard a hissing noise. It could be a leak, I guess, but it's probably the compressor letting the pressure equalize.

The computer module for a 2001 Ford Taurus is located just behind the glove compartment. This provides a level of safety for the computer and allows for easy access to the ODBII port.
is it an Aerostar, a Taurus, a Ranger, a Tempo?
The one on the passenger back side, closest to the firewall.
