Karl Marx once said; "I am not a Marxist!". He also once called his adherents "useful idiots". Karl Marx presented a strategy in communism much of which can be found in his book, Das Kapital. Communism? Let's compare and contrast. The difference between capitalism and communism is that in capitalism man exploits man and in communism it's the other way around.

marxism is where the idea of communism came from.

socialism is a dulled down version of communism.

that's why people who support communism are called reds and people who support socialism are called pinkos (where i come from anyway).

in short, yes, there is a difference.

Communism is a party, and Marxism is the specific variation of that party as made popular by Karl Marx and Frederik Engels ( The writers of the Communist Manifesto )

P.S. If communism is rock in general, marxism is grunge. =)

P.P.S. So the answer is no.
