Melting Ice cube in a glass of water does not raise the level of water - why?

Answer:

ice has lower density than water .
density=mass/volume
for the same mass of liquidated H2O has less volume than ice.
accordingly when ice is melted it takes less volume in the glass and the water level shall not raise.
also this could be explained according to Archimedes theory of floating.
