It is as American as Apple Pie.
Apple does tend to be the most popular fruit pie of all, though during such holiday's as Thanks Giving and Christmas, the pumpkin pie is up there on the list as well. Other popular fruit pies include:
Blueberry, Peach, Plum, Blackberry (though usually made as a cobbler and not pie).
and yes pumpkin is a fruit, not a vegetable.
