Answer

If one has lost someone to murder then of course a conviction of the criminal gives a sense of relief for a few, but not all. Even if the criminal is put to death there can be little sense of relief because it doesn't bring back the person one loves. However, a conviction means that person is off the streets so they can't hurt anyone else and that in itself is a great relief.

One should never feel guilty about what happens to a murderer when they are caught. They know the law, they broke it and they took someone loving from someone's family.

Many members of families who's loved one(s) have been victims of murder form programs, fight the laws of the judicial system or perhaps the death penalty in that State if there is not one. For every victim that is lost to murder there should be changes made to better the justice system.
