- The best policy is to just be yourself; good manners without over-doing it; small talk and do not bring up your relationship during this time unless she approaches you. Be attentive, but be confident in yourself and ask other young women to dance with you. If you try to hard to get her attention there is less chance she will want to get back together. Be polite, but don't make her the center of attention. People often want what they think they can't have.
