Yes! You must re-open an existing claim if you are unemployed again OR trying to file for the EUC program after you fully collected your original 26 weeks and this all happened within 18 months of your last check! I just did it and will start to collect (interstate claim) in a couple weeks for another 20 weeks (plus 7 more at the end if needed). Good luck...
Typically, you do not need to reopen an unemployment claim in New Jersey after one year. Once you initially file a claim, it is usually active for a specific duration, which is typically about one year. If you continue to remain unemployed and meet all the eligibility criteria, your claim will usually remain open for that period, and you will continue to receive benefits. However, it is always advisable to check with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development or consult their website for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding unemployment benefits in the state.

If tou are a resident of NJ, then you apply in NJ.
I worked in NY for 6 months. I live in New Jersey. I was told by NJ Unemployment when I tried to claim benefits that I would have to claim my unemployment benefits in the State of NY.
Yes you can, but make sure you are eligble to do so. If you were let go from your job for simple misconduct, you have to a 6 week penalty from the day you were let go. After that you can re-open your existing claim that was originally denied so you can begin collecting. If you were let go for gross misconduct, apparently you cannot re-open your claim because you will be completely denied for benefits.

You can check, of course, but it is likely that your employer paid their unemployment compensation payments into the NY state unemployment pool and NOT the NJ pool.
