Depending on how young the person is, marriage at an early age demands early responsibilities and emotional maturity that a young person still needs to develop. Therefore, the disadvantages would be the emotional maturity that is needed to maintain a healthy marriage. Of course, if both people in the relationship are committed to each other, why not wait together, until a time in your lives where the age is more approriate?

The advantages and disadvantages of marriage at an early age are driven by cultural and social conditions. In poor countries and in the not so distant past people died in their early 30s. Waiting until one's mid-twenties would produce many starving orphans. In today's world (especially in first world countries) education and attaining the monetary independence needed for marriage often makes marrying before the mid-thirtys difficult. Luckily the extended age-to-death conditions allows raising even late children possible. The disadvantages are the lower quality of sperm and ova for these children and the potential for couples to get tired of each other in their 50 year marriages.
