Well there is a list the courts may go down first before the child is handed over to an aunt. The check out the mother and father, and if either are fit parents they will allow the child to reside there. If the parents are not fit then they go to grandparents. If there are no grandparentes or they are not fit to raise the child then other family members are looked at. It really also depends on the state you live in.
