The Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra window lift motor is located inside of the door. Each window is equipped with a window lift motor.
Yes
Take the inside door panel off and the water deflector paper and you will be able to see the window motor.
apparently the window motor is bad and will need replaced.
It's on the firewall up high on the passenger side. You may need to remove the alternator to get it out.
The 2.8, 3.1 and 3.4 are all the same block throughout all years. The only thing that really changed was the style of head, the intake, and a roller camshaft. It should be a direct swap for what you are wanting to do however.
Depends on which motor you're referring to
No you can not put any Oldsmobile motor into a 1985 Cutlass Supreme. Each car has a motor that was designed specifically for that vehicle. So if you need to replace the motor in a 1985 Cutlass Supreme, you need to find the specific motor for that vehicle.
Can you use it for What?
Go to AUTOZONE.com & look up the motor & repair info. I just used that when I replaced the lift motor on my 96 Ciera. The instructions left out some necessary steps. -after removing the sash bolts, reconnect the battery long enough to lower the window lift a few inches (window taped in place & sash disconnected). Drill out the rivet near the sash bolts in the 'belt channel'. Other wise you can't move the motor/regulator enough to drill out the 3 rivets connecting the motor to the regulator. I've replaced 2 in a Grand Am and 1 in a S-10 Blazer. This was the most difficult. The instructions that came with the motor referred to anchoring the sector gear. There is no sector gear, at least not in my Ciera.
I can't say for sure about the 1996 model, but the 1994 Cutlass has a power window relay between the switch and the motor only on the front driver's side window. The relay powers the window all the way up or down (easing the driver's work load) if the switch is pushed in a certain way. The relay is located up under the dash and is very hard to reach on the 1994 model. Again, I can't say where it is located on the 1996 model.
Remove the door panel. Find the motor and drill out the rivets or get the old motor out by any means necessary. Unplug the motor Bolt in your new window motor and plug it back it. Before you replace the door panel, turn your car back on and make sure that the window motor is working. If it works replace the door panel. If not check the fit of the motor and the wiring. takes about 3 hours your first time if you have all the tools you need and know how to get the door panel off.
