Forgive my pendantry, but it has to be said: same day as usual - 25th of Kislev. In the Gregorian - as opposed to the Hebrew calendar - that was the 5th of December. :-)
The first day of Hanukah in 1975 was Saturday, November 29th. The first candle was therefore Friday night November 28th. The holiday lasted until December 6th.
Hanukkah always starts on the Hebrew calendar date of 25 Kislev, and lasts for eight days. The Hebrew calendar does not line up with the western calendar because it has a completely different leap...
