Usually, first offense or two will be overlooked if you immediately make good on a check bounced due to some oversight. If it becomes a pattern, or if the amounts of money involved are large, there will be swift and stiff penalties ranging from NJP with loss of rank, restriction, forfieture of pay extra duty etc to special or general court-martial which could result in significant brig time as well as a punitive discharge (Bad Conduct or Dishonorable) which is also a federal conviction.
