The biggest culprits of lower quadrant pain in ovulating females is ovarian cysts. The biggest culprit of lower quadrant pain in both males and females is the pressure and gas in the colon that produces pain; this kind of pain goes away after a bowel movement. Appendix or Appendicitis pain is only in the lower quadrant for a short time before the pain radiates up to the navel.
