as radio as a medium did not exist in that period, though records did, most popular music was live, the singalong type of thing. some songs popular in the so-called Turn of the Century period- actually extending up to the early teens would include the time-honored ( Good Old Summertime), Various Ragtime pieces ( such as Hold that Tiger or Tiger Rag) and numerous popular sing-along types as were once often heard on tv programs as (Mitch Miller). Some, such as Sweet Adeline, neatly honored Opera stars while not being Opera songs ( more properly Arias) of any sort. there were no charts at the time, so songs had a lengthy shelf-life. for some reason- and this survived up into the early fifties , there was much made of Seasonal songs- beyond yule there were seasonal specific songs dealing with Summer time ( of course), spring, and Autumn. Winter songs were rare and generally overlapped with Christmas. so it goes.
