Stays ? You mean doesn't work ? Most common problem is just sticking, telescopic and power antennas should be lightly oiled after each wash. Try very carefully to draw it out by hand when a friend turns the power on on the radio (on the automatic antenna; if it is out and doesn't go in, then don't try to push it in - You probably just will kink the antenna). Check the fuse next, then the rest of the analyses nearly requires taking the antenna out from under the fender and use the voltmeter to check things.
