Islam calls people to only worship their creator, the lone lord of the whole universe, and to behave generously with other people. To do that, you must say the (shahada), which means admission that No god except Allah (the creator of everything in universe) and that Muhammad is his messenger to humanity. after that you should pray 5 short prayers per day (at specific times). At the month of Ramadan- moon based calendar- (changeable during the western year) you should fast the whole day from dawn 2 sunset even no water.
Later, if you have much money, u should pay Zakat (for charity), and go 4 Haj (visiting the holy mosque of Mecca)....that's all
for sexual relations, only a husband and a his wife can have sex. Women should cover their bodies in some respective manner from the other men.
About traditions, many of the Muslims' traditions may be wrong and don't reflect the right Islamic view, try to search 4 the reasonable traditions among a good Muslim community near 2 u
The following words is the Shahada in Arabic....if you say it and believe it is right, you become a Muslim immediately..just get a shower and start praying( this needs more explanation if you like)
