It's the Broadmann's area 41 and 42. This area is responsible to receive hearing from both sides of ears. Any lesions in one primary auditory area might decrease the hearing in both ears (but without complete deafness in any of them)
The auditory cortex which detects sound quality like loudness and tone, is right above the auditory association area which processes complex auditory information.
