They face grass fires, tornadoes, floods, fleezing weathers, blizzards, hot weathers, poisonous snake bites, worn - out feet, plagues of insects, droughts, dust storms, wolves, dehyrdrations, stampedes, and starvations. Thats all I can think of!

When settling on the great plains of the Americas or elsewhere around the world, ancient peoples faced environmental challenges of various kinds: high winds, turbulent weather in general, and (typically) extreme temperatures in sharply distinct seasons. At the same time, they were required to act creatively (or to remain semi-nomadic) in order to construct shelters of any permanent sort. Contending with other settlers or the typical nomadic peoples who crisscrossed plains regions in ancient times was yet another problem to confront.
