In Pokemon Red there is a rare candy cheat, but this can actually be used for any item. Move the item you want to multiply to the 6th item slot. For this to work you need to have the surf ability with one of your Pokemon and the fly ability.
First talk to the man in Veridian City who tells you how to catch Pokemon.
From there, Fly to Cinnibar Island and use Surf up and down the coastline on the east (right) side of the island.
You will eventually encounter Missingno. DO NOT CATCH IT. There is a very good possibility you will corrupt your file and lose your save and have to start over. Either kill it or run away, it doesn't matter.
The item in the 6th slot will have a weird symbol next to it, meaning it has been multiplied. Cheat can be used over and over again, great for rare candies and master balls.
