The film "Serenity" is considered a 'Stand Alone' film that can be viewed without any prior knowledge of the "Firefly" series . In so saying , the film is given greater depth and meaning if a viewer is aware of what motivates these characters as well as the background to both the characters and the 'Universe' in which they operate .

[Firefly was another great series axed by the Sy Fy executive dullards who fail to recognise the series value and the fan-base : for example Farscape and Lexx .]
